How do I find books?
To find a book in the LaGuardia Library, use the catalog. You'll also find some online books and documents within the catalog. Those are indicated with the format Electronic Resource.
If you're looking for a textbook for your class, it should be behind the checkout desk. Ask for it by title.
How do I find articles?
Most articles are now found online, even if they originally appeared in print. To search our online article collections, which are only available to LaGuardia faculty, staff, and students, click the Find articles & books online link on our home page. Then, select the area which best matches your research topic. For instance, if you need literary criticism, click the English and World Literature link. Then, choose a collection and start your research.
To find a article in a print journal from the Library, use the catalog, click the Journal Title Search link, and then search on the name of the magazine, journal or newspaper you are looking for. Then, you can review back issues of the periodical.
If you are looking for a specific newspaper, magazine, or journal, and want to know if we own it electronically, you can search it by clicking the Find a Specific Journal/Magazine link on the Find articles and books online page.
What is a government publication and how do I find one?
Government publications refer to materials produced by the United States government. Originally, they were only available in print, but now, more and more are available online. They cover everything from statistics to laws to history. If you want to find what we have in print, you can do an author search of the catalog for United States. If you want to search online, click the Find a research guide by topic link on the home page and then select Research Guide: Government Publications.
Do you have any research guides on specific topics?
Yes! Click the Find a research guide by topic link on our home page.
How do I cite my work?

Where can I get help with my research?
Research is a challenging process so it's expected you'll need help. If you click the Email the Library for research help link on our home page, you can send us an email about your research question. If you need more help, you can schedule a one-on-one appointment with a librarian. And of course, whenever the Library is open, you can visit the Reference Desk to ask for research help.
