Using RSS to Keep Up with Scholarly Research: Using Specific Databases

EBSCO / Project Muse / Proquest / ScienceDirect / WilsonWeb
If your journal is in an EBSCO database like Academic Search Complete or Business Source Complete:
- Click on the Alert / Save / Share link.

- Click on the RSS Feed link.

- Copy the URL of the RSS feed.

- Go to your Google Reader account.
- Click on the Add a subscription button in your reader.

- Paste the subscription URL into the box and click Add.

NOTE: You can also create RSS feeds for keyword and author searches.
If your journal is in Project Muse:
- Right-click on Latest Issue Feeds and Copy Shortcut.

- Go to your Google Reader account.
- Click on the Add a subscription button in your reader.

- Paste the subscription URL into the box and click Add.

NOTE: Project Muse also has a helpful RSS guide.
If your journal is in a ProQuest database:
- Click on Create RSS feed.

- Right-click on the feed link and Copy Shortcut.

- Go to your Google Reader account.
- Click on the Add a subscription button in your reader.

- Paste the subscription URL into the box and click Add.

NOTE: You can also create RSS feeds for keyword or author searches.
If your journal is in ScienceDirect:
- Click the New Article Feed link.

- Right-click on the RSS feed and Copy Shortcut.

- Go to your Google Reader account.
- Click on the Add a subscription button in your reader.

- Paste the subscription URL into the box and click Add.

NOTE: You can also create RSS feeds for keyword or author searches. ScienceDirect also has a helpful RSS guide.
If your journal is in a WilsonWeb database:
- Type the name of the journal into the Search Within this Publication box and click the Start button.

- Click on the RSS feed button.

- Click on the Create Alert button (make sure that the "RSS feed" radio button is selected).

- Right-click on the feed link and Copy Shortcut.

- Go to your Google Reader account.
- Click on the Add a subscription button in your reader.

- Paste the subscription URL into the box and click Add.
