The Global Workplace
An excellent way to begin your search for career information is to check the resources provided by the U.S. Department of Labor: the Occupational Outlook Handbook and America's Career InfoNet's Resource Library.
Occupational information includes the nature of the work, the entry requirements, the rewards and benefits, and the outlook for the future. If your career interests are linked to a particular industry, such as travel and tourism or food service, you might want to check Industry and Company section too.

- Academic Search Complete (EBSCOhost) This multidisciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,500 journals, including full text for more than 3,700 peer-reviewed titles. Some coverage back to 1975. Not all items are full text. Highly recommended for all academic subjects.
- Business and Company Resource Center Includes company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals.
- Business Source Complete Covers all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. This database is updated daily on EBSCOhost. Provides full text for more than 2,300 journals, including full text for more than 1,100 peer-reviewed titles. Some full text back to 1886, and searchable cited references back to 1998.
- CollegeSource Online access to over 40,000 college and graduate school catalogs, both in the U.S. and internationally.
- Ferguson's Career Guidance Center Provides information on jobs and industries as well as information on resume writing, interviews, scholarships, schools and internships.

- LearningExpress Online tests and tutorials for a variety of tests and subjects, including the firefighters exam, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), TOEFL, Basic Writing Success Skills, U.S. citizenship, and GED.
- LexisNexis Academic Full-text access to newspapers from around the world. Also contains legal and business information.

Career Voyages - On this site you can explore career options, assess your interests, view videos about various jobs and learn how to get the education and training you need.

Hoover's Online - Hoover's offers company profiles and information about executives. It can also help create lists of companies in an area by type of company.
JobHuntersBible.com - This online version of the book What Color is Your Parachute offers advise on career exploration and job searching.
JobAccess - This organization works with companies, government and non-profits to employ people with disabilities.Offers job searching and information on the Americans With Disabilities Act.
JobStar California - This site offers "How To' information on resumes, searching the job market and finding salary information.

Networked Librarian Job Search Guide - This guide offers links to resources about careers, industries, job banks and general job searching.
O Net Online (Occupation Information Network) - This online version of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles gives descriptions of careers by job titles or families of related positions. It also offers a "Skills Search" section to help match skills with related job titles.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - This Department of Labor resource gives job profiles that include descriptions of the nature of the work, required education and skills, salary ranges and forecasts about job growth in the new few years.
The Princeton Review - This site offers both career and education information. Students can learn about colleges, programs and scholarship opportunities as well as explore career options.
The Riley Guide - This guide is one of the most complete listings of resources relating to career information and job opportunities. All the resources are arranged by categories that include information on preparing a job search, resume writing, salaries, interviewing and actual job listings.
Careers & Jobs: Resources by Demographics (Macalester College career Development Center) - This collection of links includes resources for African Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americans, Native Americans, women and other minorities.
Streaming Futures - This collection of interview videos is arranged by job categories and include prominent people from many fields.
University of Manitoba, Counseling Service - This resource offers over 240 occupational resource files to help with career exploration.

Career Journal - This online journal is sponsored by the Wall Street Journal. It features articles on careers and job markets such as Europe and Asia.
Occupational Outlook Quarterly - This monthly update information found in the Occupational Outlook Annual and features articles on current growth careers.
Internet Career Connection - Includes job searching and career exploration information as well as information on internships, industry profiles and "Jobs of the future."
Working Mother - This journal site features articles, and sections on "100 Best Companies," "Best Companies for Women of Color" and more.
